Tint Aftercare
Instructions
Follow these steps to protect your new tint during the curing process and keep it looking its best for years.
Right After
Install
- Keep all windows rolled up for the full 48 hours. No exceptions. The adhesive needs to bond without movement.
- If you notice water pockets, haze, or a slightly cloudy look, don't panic. This is completely normal and part of the process.
- Do not press on the film or try to smooth out any bubbles. Let it cure on its own.
The Cure
Window
- Wait at least 2 weeks before washing your vehicle, or until after your complimentary follow-up inspection, whichever comes first.
- Water pockets and haziness may still be present. They will fully clear within 2–3 weeks as the tint finishes curing.
- If you have any concerns during this period, call us before doing anything to the glass. We'd rather look at it than have you guess.
Long-Term
Maintenance
- Use only pH-balanced automotive soaps when washing your vehicle.
- Clean tinted windows with ammonia-free glass cleaners only. Ammonia breaks down the adhesive over time.
- Always use soft microfiber towels when wiping tinted glass. Never use paper towels or rough cloths.
- Do not use razor blades or scrapers on the inside of the glass. You will scratch or remove the film.
- Do not use abrasive pads, steel wool, or rough sponges on tinted surfaces.
- Do not use ammonia-based cleaners like common household glass cleaners. These will degrade the film over time.
- Do not roll windows down within the first 48 hours after installation.
Two-Week
Follow-Up Inspection
We recommend bringing your vehicle back approximately 2 weeks after installation. We'll confirm the tint has cured properly, answer any questions you have, and make sure everything looks exactly as it should. It's free. It's fast. And it's how we make sure the job is done right.
If you have any concerns before then, don't wait. Call us or stop by and we'll take a look.

Solar Gard
Flat Glass Film
For residential and commercial window film installed with Solar Gard products, follow the manufacturer's official care and maintenance guide to keep the film performing and looking its best.
The dry-out period after flat glass installation varies based on weather and sun exposure. Small water beads and a slightly cloudy appearance immediately after installation are normal and will clear as the film dries out.
Small water beads and cloudiness after installation are normal. Warm, sunny weather speeds dry-out. Cool or overcast conditions may extend the timeline.
Use clean soft cloths or a synthetic sponge with mild glass cleaner. Avoid ammonia-based cleaners, abrasive pads, and bristle brushes. These will scratch or damage the film surface.
Occasional silicone polish on interior films helps maintain a clean surface and prevents scratching. No routine maintenance is required for the film to perform. Just keep it clean.
